ALEXANDRA COCKRELL

NY-Based Director & Actor

Alexandra Cockrell (she/they) is a Romanian-American theatre director, actor, and teacher. She is a graduate of The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, as well as Interlochen Arts Academy and the apprentice program at Williamstown Theatre Festival. While at the Conservatoire, Alexandra was awarded the John Gielgud Bursary, produced work for the On the Verge festival, workshopped a new piece for the Royal Lyceum Theatre, and was chosen to represent the school at Drama UK’s workshop at The Royal Shakespeare Company

They have been a part of productions and readings at Williamstown Theatre Festival, Tron Theatre (Glasgow), The Cockpit Theatre (London), Bard City, Doghouse Ensemble Theatre, Parallel 45, Theatre Uncut, Kaohsiung Spring Arts Festival (Taiwan), and the World Theatre Games (St. Petersburg, Russia).

Alexandra is the Associate Director of the High School Repertory Theatre Production at Interlochen Center for the Arts. She is also a core company member of Venture Theatre, a theatre company based in Hamilton, Bermuda. The company’s inaugural production of THE GLASS MENAGERIE in January 2020 played to much acclaim. Venture’s mission is to bring international theatre artists together with local talent in an effort to stage classic and contemporary plays for a Bermudian audience.
