ALEXANDRA COCKRELL
NY-Based Director & Actor
Alexandra Cockrell (she/they) is a New York City-based director and educator whose work and interest centers on the complexities of girlhood, moral ambiguity, the mythology of the American Dream, and contemporary interpretations of classical texts.
Directing credits include Evergreen (NYU Grad Acting / Freeplay Festival), Friday Night, 7:45 pm (B*TCH C*LLECTIVE), John Brown’s Body (Theatre Write Now / KOPCORP). As an associate/assistant director, she has collaborated with Sivan Battat on Angels in America: Millennium Approaches and Jackson Gay on Cyrano de Bergerac (NYU Grad Acting). Alexandra has also worked as dramaturg and performance coach for the audiobooks of Your Beloved Remains by Quinn Connor (Macmillan Audio) and The Definitions by Matt Greene (Brilliance Audio).
Alexandra is on faculty at Interlochen Center for the Arts, where she serves as the Associate Director of the High School Acting Company Production and voice and movement instructor during the summer. Previous Interlochen directing credits include Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare in Love, Sense and Sensibility, Alice and the Jabberwocky, and A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
Alexandra trained at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, where she received the Sir John Gielgud Award. Additional training includes Interlochen Arts Academy and the Apprentice Program at Williamstown Theatre Festival.
Alexandra is currently seeking representation.

U of Minnesota BFA Acting Program / Twelfth Night
Spring 2025
Alexandra served as a guest teaching artist on the U of Minnesota’s sophomore production of Twelfth Night, directed by Ben Lohrberg, providing scene and monologue coaching and an external set of eyes during the company’s first full run of the piece.
